Act like we could've done better than actual football people did.

Yes, the really real NFL draft is almost upon us!
I'm going to miss you, mock draft!
In fact, let's do it one more time, just to remember what we had and what we'll never forget…
With Draft Day fast approaching, pigskin mockery abounds. In my own personal mockery, I've noticed a recent dearth of "Godfather Offers" for the Patriots #3 pick.
So, what's the best I can do with the "stick and pick" approach for a Patriots mock draft?
Let's be real, he said, while talking about mock drafts. What follows is probably (definitely) not going to happen but if it did, I'd be a very happy Patriots fan.
Why do we simple folk, the GMs without portfolios, the "Honey Do" list procrastinators, the "yeah, I played some ball in middle school" types; why do we mock the NFL draft?
Well, it can be crazy good fun, even if it is a complete and utter waste of time. Wait! Isn't that the definition of everything that's fun?
The analytical me says the 49ers are the better team. The seen-that-movie-before me says bet the mortgage on the Chiefs.
My wife says the seen-that-movie-before me is an idiot.
Then again, she doesn't think the analytical me is all that smart, either.
Sometimes, it just writes itself.
Or maybe it just seems that way. Still, there seems to be fewer certainties in life than the inevitability of the Baltimore Ravens having a psychotic pigskin break at the least opportune moment.
What's that?
You don't believe in fate?
I'm guessing you don't live in Detroit.
Now it's a party.
Jerod Mayo is the new Head Coach of your (and my) New England Patriots.
Sometimes the inevitable is still a shock to the system.
Bill Belichick is no longer the HC of the NEP.
Now we know when the good old days officially ended.
They say everything ends badly or else it wouldn't end.
And yeah. That was pretty bad.
This is it. The end of an era. Not often we have advance notice. But, here we are…
NYJ vs. NEP, 1:00pm, January 7, 2024
There are no meaningless games to those who are playing.
I'm sure some smart guy said something like that once upon an upset.
I'm not a big fan of roller coaster rides but at least I didn't throw up at the end of this one.
It's ending badly, we all know that, but unfortunately, it can't end quickly. At least, not quickly enough.
We're going to have to watch this movie - Tennessee Bill and the Stadium of Doom, inarguably the worst movie in the Tennessee Bill franchise - at least three more times. On network TV, with commercials. Why would I do that to myself? And yet, I know I'm going to watch it again. I'm a mystery to myself.
