The sun is out. The driveway is plowed. I do need to clean out the
clogged filter in our washing machine but not even that can harsh my buzz
today. The Patriots are heading to the AFC Championship Game.
So, I noticed the "Travis
Kelce mocks Tom Brady" post on Bleacher Report and decided to check
out the comments. It was fascinating. The posters immediately turned on each
other, focusing on the relative intelligence of the parties involved, their
lack of spelling skills (good to know somebody still cares about the English
language), what your mother said last night and this classic…
"Boston fans are the most
arrogant pricks in sports."
While this doesn't seem to speak directly to the sportiness of the
KC tight end mocking the greatest quarterback of all time, I would like to say
this.
Thank you.
Recent polling
had taken us all down a peg and quite a few us were shocked and hurt that our arrogant
prickiness had been called into question. How could anyone hate us less than
any other fan base? Sure, that 12th Man schtick is a contrivance Seahawks' fans
stole from a college, Steelers' fans with their terrible towels are annoying and
Jets' fans with their drinking and puking and crying are just disgusting but
come on! Boston fans – and Patriots' fans in this context – are the absolute
worst. Do you think we use that grating, barely intelligible accent in our
everyday lives? Okay, we do, but only when we're creating artfully crafted
self-deprecating satires
for YouTube.
Anyway, the Patriots onto the AFC Championship Game. For the 5th
time in a row. For the 10th time in 15 years.
Are you feeling me?
