Just a Few Ticks

Seriously. This is what The League was so angry and distraught about? A few ticks? This is what they’re spending hundreds of thousands of dollars investigating?

I think these guys might want to think about apologizing to Robert Kraft and the New England Patriots right now.

The notion that this was a sting by the NFL has largely been discounted of late. Dean Blandino’s admission that the NFL didn’t have a record of the PSI for Patriots’ game balls was used to provide cover. See? If we were out to get the Patriots, we would’ve written those pressure checks down.

Just because you did it badly doesn’t mean you didn’t try.

If this wasn’t a concerted effort on the part of at least some members of the league office then why were we told 11 of 12 footballs were -2.0 PSI? Why were Bill Belichick and Tom Brady left hanging? How did something that was going to take 2-3 days to investigate turn into the Warren Report? Why the breathless announcement that someone had taken the footballs into another room for 98 seconds where anything could’ve happened?

Yes, okay. Maybe this wasn’t some Machiavellian plot. There is certainly a credible alternative explanation, of course.

The people in charge of the NFL are vindictive, bitter, jealous, cowardly, venal, incompetent, boneheaded dickheads.

An apology isn’t enough; people need to lose their jobs over this.

Starting with Roger Goodell.
