Goating Around

I love small data samples. Let's take Tom Brady's 4th quarter in the AFC Championship Game.

9 of 12 for 138 yards and 2 TDs. Against the best pass defense in the NFL. Wait, what? I've seen this movie before, haven't I?

Brady's 4th quarter projects to 552 yards for a full game along with a single-game record 8 TD passes. The 552 yards passing would be second only to Norm Van Brocklin's 554. So, pretty good.

Let's project Brady's 4th quarter to full season totals.

8,832 yards and 128 TD passes.

Ridiculous.

The current records are held by Peyton Manning at 5,477 yards and 55 TDs.

Absurd.

That's how good Tom Brady was in the 4th quarter of the AFC Championship Game.

Crazy good.

Of course, it helps being able to play that 4th quarter with Danny Amendola. Playoff Danny caught 5 passes for 56 yards and 2 TDs. Over a full season, that would project to 320 receptions, 3,584 yards and 128 TD catches.

Yeah, those would all be records.
