Sometimes
reality intrudes on fantasy. Boys will be boys and sometimes those boys have a
gun. Should Bill Belichick have seen this one coming? I don’t know. A guy with
a DUI in college getting hit with a DUI as a pro? Yeah, you shouldn’t be
surprised by that. What do you say? You were hoping that guy would grow up.
Hey! Lots of guys get blackout drunk in college or play Grand Theft Auto for
real. Okay, maybe not lots. When I hear “lots” I think “parking lot” which if
we’re talking a measuring unit based on the Bigger than a Breadbox Paradigm is
pretty parking lot big. So, probably not lots. The point is that some guys do
one or both of those things (hopefully not simultaneously) in their teens or
early twenties. Some of them die in their teens and twenties. Some of those
guys grow up the thug life and some of them kill. Some of them don’t.
How do
you tell the difference between the two?
What in
Aaron Hernandez’s past should have made it clear to Bill Belichick that
everything that has gone down this summer was an inevitability?
I don’t
remember the Rae Carruth
case being a moral crisis for the Carolina Panthers. Perhaps part of that is
the fact that nobody has ever talked about the “Panthers’ Way.” The Patriots
have been a model franchise, both on and off the field. Those who have bristled
at the perceived arrogance of the Patriots have been waiting for this moment.
Haters gonna hate.
At the
end of the day – like anyone else – I can only speak for myself. I don’t blame
Bill Belichick for the fact that Aaron Hernandez is (allegedly) a murderer.
That’s on Hernandez. I’m moving on.
